Anthony Trollope Three Great Novels: The Warden/Barchester Towers/and Eye for an Eye (The Golden Library)
Published in Paperback by Carroll & Graf (April, 1995)
Authors: Anthony Trollope, Julian F. Thompson, and D. M. Thomas
Average review score:

BRILLIANT BOOK; DO NOT LISTEN TO KIRKUS
I must agree with the other reader who insisted you ignore the Kirkus review. I found this book to be incredibly moving and fascinating in its exploration, not of various conspiracy theories (as the Kirkus reviewer wrongly says), but of the different ways the Kennedy assasination myth affects Americans, even those of us who were not alive when it happened.

Forget the stupid Kirkus review
As far as I'm concerned, who ever wrote the Kirkus review above is even more of a hack than the worst potboiler scribblers, of which Mr. Thomas is definitely not one. Come to think of it, who else but the lowliest hack would review for Kirkus? Forget the dumb, ad hominem Kirkus attack and read the book. It's well worth your time.

The Art of Control Engineering
Published in Paperback by Addison-Wesley Pub Co (June, 1997)
Authors: Ken Dutton, William Barraclough, Steve Thompson, and Bill Barraclough
Average review score:

motivates study of controls before presenting techniques
I had been looking for an introductory textbook that motivates the study of controls before presenting the analysis and design techniques, and presents a range of topics besides classical continuous-time, frequency domain control. This book is it! It has material on digital, multivariable, and nonlinear control, which can be used beyond the first controls course - a consideration given the price of textbooks. The didactic discussions of concepts complement the explanation of techniques. The math is kept simple and introduced as needed.

A great reader.
From basics (Laplace) to advanced control theroy (Kalman), this book hit it all. The math is even easy to follow. This book will serve you well as either a stand along self teaching guide, or as a supplemental reference to a formal control systems course.

As If: A Crime, a Trial, a Question of Childhood
Published in Hardcover by Picador (September, 1997)
Author: Blake Morrison
Average review score:

"As If" makes us think.
Blake Morrison's "As If" was this reader's favorite find of the year. Morrison finds himself compelled to view the unfolding of Liverpool's James Bulger murder trial, and in doing so is forced to assess his own life in relation to what it means to grow up "normally". Who is truly guilty or innocent in this shocking act of two ten-year olds murdering a two-year old? He says he must determine the "why" of the crime. As we sink with him into the morass, we find that the answer becomes more and more elusive, and we wonder how different these families are from yours or mine.

The most profound book I have ever read.
I bought this novel in the summer while I was in England. A few weeks ago, when I was looking for a book to read, I came across As If on my book shelf. Since then I have read it three times. Morrison made me ask questions of myself and of society that I would have never asked otherwise. He explains the trial, not only in a factual manner, but in an extrordinarily philosophical way as well.

Ayurvedic Zone Diet
Published in Paperback by National Book Network (15 April, 2000)
Authors: Dennis Thompson and Susan Tinkle
Average review score:

All I needed was a ratio adjustment
Traditional Ayurveda teachings are very valuable, and can help you learn a lot about your food choices. However, it really never went into the caloric ratios a certain body type needs to consume to find balance.

I'm a vata-pitta, but primarily a vata. I was following a high carbohydrate, low fat diet, which I read in this book was definitely the wrong thing for a vata to be doing. I needed more fat. 40% of my calories as a matter of fact. I'd tried everything else, so I gave the 40/40/20 ratio a shot. All I can say is, "WOW". Upping my fat intake way the key to finding balance through diet. Not to say everyone should eat 40% of their calories from fat. Only the vata type. The Pitta (or fire) type should eat 50% or more from carbs, 30% protein, and 20% or less from fat.

If I would have read this book 2 years ago, I would have missed out on a lot of unnecessary trial and error. Excellent book!

This book will change my life!
Dr. Thompson presents an ancient wisdom in an easy to read fashion. His presentation of the material is both insightful, well organized and entertaining. Which is quite a feat given the subject matter he has taken on here! The book includes a concise description of the background needed to understand the premises, a set of questions which gives the reader instant insight into his/her own typology, and suggestions for how to improve the quality of their lives based on that typology. I enjoyed reading the book and look forward to applying its principles in my new quality life!

Begonias : The Complete Reference Guide
Published in Hardcover by Times Books (November, 1981)
Authors: Mildred L. Thompson and Edward J Thompson
Average review score:

The best book on begonias in print
The definitive book on begonias, including descriptions of all classes of begonias, culture, propagating, and lots of pictures.

Begonias: A Complete Reference
This book is the ultimate reference to the genus Begonia, or is at least for the moment! Our indoor gardening association calls it "the Begonia bible" for good reason; her scholarship and research has yet to be surpassed and she documents most of the many species now in cultivation. In addition, it has a wealth of color and black and white pictures for positive identification. Well worth the search for this out-of-print gem of a resource!

Behind The Red Doors
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Harlequin (01 January, 2003)
Authors: Vicki Lewis Thompson, Stephanie Bond, and Leslie Kelly
Average review score:

Very highly recommended
BEHIND THE RED DOORS links three extraordinary shops that market scent, jewels and lingerie. Through these doors wishes come true. These searing tales should not be reserved just for Valentine's Day. Indeed, readers who enjoy anthologies with a united theme and story line will absolutely treasure BEHIND THE RED DOORS.

Door #1 - "Heaven Scent" by Vicki Lewis Thompson
In an innovative marketing ploy, customers uncomfortable browsing have the option to use computer kiosks to order their favored items and pick them up on their way out the door. To ascertain men's preferences and offer suggestions to shoppers, Jamie Ruskin asks long time friend and secret crush Dev Sherman to fill out a questionnaire. Certain his sister is somehow involved, Dev gives opposite answers, never suspecting that Jamie will use his own answers against him. The result is a sizzling, yet playful romp that combines erotic fantasy and aromatherapy in a sent-sational combination.

Door #2 - "Diamond Mine" by Stephanie Bond
Valentine's Day went desperately wrong between Faith Sherman and Carter Grayson when she expected more than just a friendly dinner. When a diamond on loan requires increased security, Carter reenters her life. Only this time he claims a fiancé and soon Faith finds herself recommending diamonds for someone else. Bond's characteristic flair for combining romance and humor truly sparkles.

Door #3 - "Sheer Delights" by Leslie Kelly
Conned into a photography session by her cousin, schoolteacher Meg O'Roarke becomes an inadvertent sexy model for lingerie. Her gasp of shock when she sees her body plastered on the store's kiosk screen brings an unexpected rescuer. But Joe Santori will be hard pressed to explain that the lingerie hanging in his closet was for her-a fantasy woman he had not even met. Kelly's dynamic storytelling ability truly results in an unexpectedly sheer delight.

Red Doors offers the hottest Valentine's Day you could want!
Red Doors is by far the best Valentine's anthology I've read. Funny, fast paced, steamy, these three stories have it all. Yet each stands fully on its own. My personal favorite was Sheer Delights but they were all entertaining. Very sexy heroes!! I can't wait to read these authors again.

Brainwave Journey (Acoustic Research Series)

Average review score:

BUY IT!
It is a journey that will be very difficult to forget.Even if you never tried meditation before listen to this. All you have to do is close your eyes and relax very soon you are going to find yourself in a world of sounds combined with colorfull pictures.
I believe it is worthy to eperience it.

Truly an incredible journey - or four!
A friend of mine had this 4-CD set and we used them together. I really do not know the words to accurately describe the experience - and I have a considerable vocabulary! Any one of these CDs alone leads the listener into fantastic levels of awareness; taken all together, they co-integrate and create amazing results in all four facets of the consciousness: Mind, Body, Heart, and Spirit. In retrospect I think that Brainwave Journey was instrumental in a unique and fulfilling creative project I was undertaking with the aforementioned friend, though I was not fully aware of so much influence at the time. In short, it would appear that Brainwave Journey contributed immensely to the inspiration and personal well-being that made our project so successful. Specifically I recall one occasion when the Journey of the Body CD led me into an extremely profound state of cellular consciousness - I felt like I was "IN" my tissue, or was a blood cell floating and rushing through my bloodstream. It's truly awesome and I highly recommend this set to any avid explorers of the higher levels of awareness.

Samantha Thompson really made a winner with her first novel, Broken Boundaries! She starts with a hard hit and pushes her way into the psychological thriller category and holds on! She really kept my heart pounding with the tense moments and also made me laugh with her well-placed comedy. She's got me hooked and I can hardly wait for Nefarious---MORE MARTY!!!
